data communication links between campuses (or universitys
main compound) and individual buildings outside the campuses (or
main compound). Please specify for each link the points (buildings)
connected by the link, the distance the link is bridging, the
technology used and the capacity of the link.
If possible,
include a schematic drawing!
There is no
inter-campus Net at the moment.
At the present
time exist certain sectors of the University of the Recinto Simón
Bolívar that don't have connectivity, but in a future we
pretend to connect them through wireless communication, for example:
IES, Graduate degree UNI and others. We pretend to make the wireless
connection among the two Campus that belong to the National University
of Engineering.
1.2 Campus networks
Describe in
brief the networks available (if any) at the various campuses facilities
providing data communication connectivity to the individual buildings.
Do not include the description of LANs at the individual buildings!
Please specify buildings connected, distances, the technology used
and capacities. If possible, include a schematic drawing!
The Nets of
the two Campus of the National University of Engineering are described
in the point 1 that makes reference to the Description of the

The University
Camp Simón Bolívar has a Center of Central
Computation, located in the Building 03 belonging to Faculty of
Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEC), this consists of 03
plants (Lower plant (Basement), first Floor and second Floor).
In the lowest
Plant (Center of Computation)
Inside Center
of Computation exists two HUB , one that controls the internal
equipment inside it and the second HUB is the one that serves
as connection among the different switch that are located along
the enclosure. The speed of connection of this main switch is
for some lines
of 10/10 and
for the main lines of conection of 10/100.
First Floor:The
Laboratories of Computation Leyda Montenegro and Main Laboratory
are located", with a total capacity of 46 computers.
These laboratories
have a direct connection through a HUB Switch of the Center of
Computation with a connection of 100 Mbps.
Laboratory
Leyda Montenegro:30 Intel Pentium MMX, connection of 10Mbps.
Main laboratory
:16 Intel Pentium II, connect of 100 Mbps.
The HUB mentioned
above is linked to another Switch of 100 Mbps, to feed the following
offices: Radio Shack, Tecnosoluciones and Departure of Postgrado
FEC.
Starting from
the second switch that is connected with the main switch the connection
is carried out to 10 Mbps and it feeds the Superior Administrator
Manager that is composed by Parsonage, Academic Vice Parsonage,
Parsonage Vice General,Department of Investigation and General
Secretary. Of all these dependences connection only exists in
Academic Vice Parsonage, Vice Parsonage of Investigation and Development
and General Secretary. The second switch also feeds the Building
03 of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEC)
that is composed by all the Departments of Computation, Vice Decanatura
and Careers of Special Modality.
Of the second
switch another switch is connected with a connection of 100 Mbps,
which feeds the Cyber Club that has 18 PC's and the whole physical
plant of the first floor and second floor of Faculty of Electrical
and Computer Engineering (FEC), besides feeding to the Laboratory
of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering that has 15 PC's and the
connection is carried out to a speed of 10 Mbps.
Lastly, we
have a central repeater that transfers information to a speed
of 100 Mbps and which connect the following departments: Department
of Communications, Department of Electronic, Department of Electric,
Laboratory of Simulation in which exists a small LANS that has
23 connected stations, Academic Secretary of the Faculty of Electrical
and Computer Engineering (FEC), with 4 PC's and a PC's with connection
NT exists.
In the Campus
Simón Bolívar some instances exist like: Registration
Central Academic, PIDMA, human resources, Department of Graduate
degree, Programs of Urban and Territorial Environmental Studies
that are not still connected, but some have communication with
Supplies of Services outside of the such University as: Telematix,
Alfanumeric, IBW, etc.
The information
with respect to the University Campus Pedro Araúz Palacios
is described in the figure A that is attached to this form. It
is necessary to highlight that the way in that it is described
in supposition form is for the fact that still we continue working
in the establishment of the physical conectivity, because in this
campus the ITC is relatively new and this is in amplification
process in the whole campus. However, that described in the annex
is taking to cavality point for point. In such way that what already
exists wired and connected it fulfills the specifications described
in such annex.
